  Something fishy here.

  I discovered the “Registry Easy” product while searching for a solution to a problem on an HP laptop with Vista-64′s netio.sys driver.

  I read several articles about the product and each one practically gushed about how great it is. Playing around with the registry is not something to be taken lightly, so I wanted to get a little more background on the product and the company behind before I downloaded the free trial software.

  The thing is, nothing that I read seemed real. A number atricles that I read mentioned that the company is based in Canada, but I was not able to find an address, nor any solid information on the company. The WHOIS registry, as mentioned a previous posting, returns an address in south-central China for the ‘RegistryEasy.com’ domain. CN=China, not Canada. Google maps helped clear up exactly where in the world Nanning, Guangxi, China actually is, but that’s not much of a help.

  I then searched Google, Ask, and Bing for “Registry Easy Scam”. I selected a result with the heading “Registry Easy Scam – What You Need to Know About Registry Cleaners …”. It directed me to an article on ezinearticles.com written by an author named “P Tab” hailing from Malta. The article praises Registry Easy. I looked up the full list of the (41) articles written by this author and found that within an eight day period, 16 slightly varied articles were posted that promote the Registry Easy product. All of these link back to “http://www.squidoo.com/registry-easy-comprehensive-review”.

  It appears that this author posts groups of articles within a few days of each other that are essentially the same information mixed around a bit. Each contains a link to the respective product site on Squidoo.com.

  The subject matter of each article group is quite varied, which leads me to suspect that the author is not an expert on the subject matter. Maybe “P Tab” is a hired copy writer who hangs out on ezinearticles.com, squidoo.com, and http://www.articlesbase.com.

  If this is the case, then I would argue that the articles are *not* legitimate and that they, along with the “comprehensive review” of the Registry Easy product on Squidoo.com are pure marketing pieces, if not also a cover for a malware product.

  Here are the “Registry Easy” ezinearticles.com articles and their post dates. Every article in this group recommends Registry Easy and links back to the same product review.

  10. What’s the Best Registry Cleaner? – October 26, 2008
  11. 3 Steps to Speed Up Your Computer – October 26, 2008

  Here are the other groups of articles written by the same author. It’s all pretty much the same stuff with different titles. No wonder the Internet is bloated!
