Brute-Force Dictionary Attack

bruteforce22The Teksquisite web server has had a number of brute-force dictionary attacks lately.  A Brute Force Dictionary Attack is an attempt to gain unauthorized access to a computer system or server by generating and trying all possible passwords.

IT & Security Portal states that: …using an automated tool for the brute force attack that can make thousands of requests per minute with credentials generated from a large list of possible values. Often this list is an actual dictionary, hence the term “dictionary attack.”

Strong and secure passwords are critical in order to avoid becoming victim to a brute-force automated tool attack.  If you can’t think of a secure password use a site such as PC Tools Secure Password Generator to generate one.

    Thanks for the post,
I use SoftFuse Password Generator http://www.password-generator.com to generate strong passwords as you suggested. PC Tools online generator is good, but I like this one very much.
